A new instalment of the renowned Krefeld Gospel Music Festival is about to be announced for October 2010.
The Festival, known as KGMF, was initiated in 1996 by Angelika Rehaag from Krefeld, Germany and Jerry Thomas from Cleveland, Ohio. It was one of the first fesivals for black gospel music in Germany and it paved the way for numerous similar events all over the country. For ten consecutive years it was one of the most prestigious efforts to bring black gospel music from the US to Europe. The events hosted Gospel celebrities such as Tim Carpenter, Jay T Hairston, Bryant Jones, Cynthia Nunn, Dana Powell, Sigmund P. Morriar, Herman Harris and Edwin Hawkins.
In 2006 the festival was stopped after the hosts had run into financial problems.
The new festival will take place in the old venue, Montessori Comprehensive in Krefeld. It is scheduled for October 21-24, 2010.
